Sands Cares Ambassadors Join Training Workshop to Enhance Service Skills

Part of lead-up to volunteer programme’s 10th anniversary

(Macao, March 26, 2019) – Around 40 Sands Cares Ambassadors recently completed a training workshop to help them better serve the community. The workshop aimed to enhance the service quality of their volunteer work while helping them learn more about the concept and significance of corporate volunteers.

The activity is one in a year-long series of celebratory activities leading up to the 10th anniversary of the Sands Cares Ambassador programme in August 2019, with the theme Spreading Love and Embracing Our Community.

The workshop was offered March 16 at The Venetian® Macao’s Adelson Advanced Education Centre, and was led by a professional trainer, Leo Hung, Chairperson of Supervisory of the Association for Volunteers Social Service of Macao.

Through presentations and interactive games, workshop participants examined effective volunteer strategies and skills, and discussed the nature of volunteer service and the relationship between volunteers and those they serve. They learned about international standards of volunteering and the ethics and benefits for each stakeholder involved. They also had the opportunity to share their own experiences as volunteers to gain insights from one another.

“I’m so proud to have been a Sands Cares Ambassador for nearly 10 years now, and I’m really excited about our upcoming anniversary celebration,” said one of the workshop participants. “Being a volunteer has been one of the best decisions I’ve made since joining Sands China, and attending this workshop was a really good way for me to prepare myself for continuing to volunteer with the programme. I look forward to continuing my service with the skills and insights I picked up during the workshop.”

The Sands Cares Ambassador programme was established in August 2009 to give Sands China team members an outlet for serving the local community by organising community activities and initiatives that work toward creating a better Macao. With membership of more than 3,300 volunteers from across all Sands China properties – Sands® Macao, The Venetian Macao, The Plaza® Macao, Sands® Cotai Central and The Parisian Macao – the Sands Cares Ambassadors have contributed 100,000 hours of voluntary community service since the programme’s founding.

The Sands Cares Ambassador programme is part of Sands Cares, the global corporate citizenship programme of parent company Las Vegas Sands Corp.
