The Venetian Macao Once Again Earns ISO Certification for Food Safety

Company’s sixth ISO certification

(
Macao, July 15, 2020) – The Venetian® Macao’s food and beverage department has received ISO 22000:2018 certification for its food safety management system, becoming the only integrated resort or hotel in Macao to have received it. It is the sixth ISO certification received by Sands China to date.

Awarded to The Venetian Macao for the safety of its operation to provide chilled food to Sands China’s food and beverage outlets, ISO 22000:2018 is the most recent iteration of the ISO 22000 certification – with The Venetian Macao having already earned the previous version, ISO 22000:2005.

The Venetian Macao’s commitment to ever higher standards of excellence helped it earn the updated certification, which places a stronger emphasis on the responsibility of leadership from top management – such as in ensuring the consultation and participation of team members in the development, planning, implementation and continual improvement of the system. Changes to the latest 2018 standard also include the application of a risk-based approach to the development of the food safety management system.

ISO 22000 is used by organisations around the world to manage food safety, providing a consistent and objective standard of quality and safety for organisations and consumers.

The “Sands China is very pleased to have received this latest ISO certification,” said Tom Connolly, senior vice president of food and beverage operations for Sands China Ltd. “Food safety is of upmost importance for our operational team, and we have stringent standards in place to ensure our success in that critical area. The company’s thanks goes to our food and beverage team members for their diligence in maintaining the highest standards, which has led to this certification.”

ISO certifications are awarded by the London-based British Standards Institution (BSI) Group, the world’s largest national standards and certification body, which audits and provides certification to companies worldwide who implement and comply with its management systems standards.

Sands China’s other ISO certifications are:

  • ISO 45001:2018 for its occupational health and safety management system
  • ISO 9001:2015 for the quality management of its facilities department
  • ISO 9001:2015 for the quality management system of its convention and exhibition services
