Best HR Management Team

(
Macao, Nov. 4, 2020) – Sands China Ltd. was recently recognised with three human resources awards in Greater China, acknowledging the company’s continuous corporate social responsibility efforts and its innovative talent development and management strategy.

Sands China received the HRoot Best Social Enterprises in Greater China 2020 award, the HRoot Best Practice of Learning and Development in Greater China 2020 award, and the Guangdong Human Resources Excellence Award for Best Human Resources Team.

The HRoot Awards is the most highly-regarded human resources industry award ceremony in the Greater China region. Award recipients feature in the world’s top 500 enterprises, including Adidas, Johnson & Johnson and Microsoft. Sands China was recognised this year based on its various accomplishments in each award category, and the company is the only Macao enterprise to receive two awards.

The HRoot Best Social Enterprises in Greater China 2020 recognised Sands China’s ongoing efforts to give back to the local community through its Sands Cares programme, especially via the Sands Cares Ambassadors’ efforts in volunteering. In addition, the company has been dedicated to carrying out the Because We Care and Walking Together company culture, particularly in successfully safeguarding team members’ health during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The HRoot Best Practice of Learning and Development in Greater China 2020 award recognises companies that implement successful talent development programmes which not only enhance employees’ knowledge and skills, but also improve team members’ engagement and satisfaction. Sands China demonstrated its commitment to nurturing local food and beverage industry talent by jointly launching its innovative F&B talent development programme with the Macao Labour Affairs Bureau, providing an exchange platform for culinary talent by inviting celebrity chefs to Macao. The programme supports the Macao SAR government’s policy of “developing Macao through education,” while facilitating the development of Macao as a City of Gastronomy.

In addition, the Guangdong Human Resources Excellence Award for Best Human Resources Team was given to Sands China for its recruitment strategy, its enhancement of the employee experience, and its strategy of saving costs and increasing efficiency during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Excellence Awards are organised by the Guangdong Academy of Human Resources, and highlight the contributions of outstanding companies in the industry.

“Sands China is very pleased to once again receive acknowledgement for our efforts to achieve excellence in human resources management and give back to the local community,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. “These awards are a testament to Sands China’s ongoing work in the areas of both corporate social responsibility and talent development. Our gratitude goes to all of our hardworking team members for their dedication and commitment, and to our volunteers for their enthusiasm in sharing love and care to the community.”

Sands China’s human resources vision includes a significant investment in talent development through cooperation with local and international universities, government departments and educational institutions. Various programmes have been launched to nurture and develop team members, covering areas such as continuing education, vocational training, professional certification, and advanced training in integrated resort operations and service, among others.

The company is committed to developing a well-trained workforce, and offers a variety of horizontal and vertical mobility opportunities to its team members through internal promotions and integrated resort career development programmes. Sands China is also dedicated to the training and professional development of Macao locals by continuously improving its human capital strategies, with the aim of contributing to Macao’s growth as a world centre of tourism and leisure.

Sands China’s other human resources accolades have included further awards from HRoot, as well as those from VeryEast, Human Resource Magazine, and others. The various awards have included Best HR Teams in Greater China, Best Employer of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Best Recruitment Innovation by a Corporate HR Team, and several awards at the Greater China Employer Branding Creativity Awards, among many others.
