First Cohort of 'Art Talent Development Showcase x Sands China' Participants Showcase Their Achievements
Programme offers MPU students and alumni real-world experience
(Macao,
June 7, 2022) – Sands China Ltd. honoured the
first cohort of participants to complete its programme,
Art Talent Development Showcase x Sands China,
with a showcase session and certificate presentation
ceremony Tuesday at The Londoner®
Macao.
Launched in
2021, Art Talent Development Showcase x Sands
China is a collaborative project between Sands
China Ltd., the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) and
the Macao Polytechnic University Alumni Association. It
offers students and recent alumni of MPU's School of
Arts real-life opportunities to apply what they have
learned in the classroom by completing projects for
Sands China – such as creating videos and doing graphic
design work for promotional materials for some of the
company's internal events and promotions. They also
learn more about the business environment and gain
opportunities to boost their
versatility.
On Tuesday,
Sands China celebrated the achievements of the
programme's first cohort of 18 MPU students and alumni,
who finished 17 pieces of collateral over the course of
the six-month
programme.
"This
programme is the latest effort by Sands China to utilise
our comprehensive integrated resort offering to nurture
local talent," said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands
China Ltd. "We are pleased to congratulate our first
cohort for completing the programme, and are truly
grateful for the support of Macao Polytechnic University
and the Macao Polytechnic University Alumni Association.
We hope they will be inspired to use their skills to
help further Macao's development as a world centre of
tourism and leisure as Sands China continues our work of
contributing to the development of integrated resort
industry talent in
Macao."
As part of the
programme, MPU includes Art Talent Development Showcase
x Sands China assignments as a practical session in its
courses for students to gain experience. As working
professionals in their field, members of the Alumni
Association then give professional feedback on the
students' and alumni's works, ensuring that they are up
to MPU's and Sands China's standards. Moving forward,
the collaboration may be extended to other MPU schools
to help cultivate more
talent.
At Tuesday's
ceremony, Marcus Im Sio Kei, president of Macao
Polytechnic University; Wong U Kei, chairman of the
board of directors of MPU's Alumni Association, and Dr.
Wong presented certificates to the programme graduates,
who shared their creative concepts and how they executed
them after the
ceremony.
Art Talent
Development Showcase x Sands China is part of
the company's ongoing efforts to support the Macao
government's policy of "building Macao with talent."
Sands China Ltd. believes that through cooperating with
universities, government departments and educational
institutions, the company will be able to help cultivate
more all-round professionals in integrated resort
management endowed with an international perspective and
a spectrum of versatile
skills.
