Sands China Team Members Get Professionalism Training During Company's Fourth GBA Visit

Team members visit Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Zhuhai Hi-Tech Zone

(Macao, Oct. 12, 2022) – A group of around 40 Sands China team members – including executives, senior management, and Sands Cares Ambassadors – toured the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Zhuhai Hi-Tech Zone Sept. 29, as part of Sands China's ongoing efforts to enhance team members' professionalism.

Sands China organised the Professionalism Education for Sands China Team Members – Visit to Hengqin, Zhuhai in the Greater Bay Area to help team members gain a deeper understanding of the ongoing development of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and learn how regional cooperation in the Greater Bay Area can help promote the moderate diversification of Macao's economy.

Sands China Ltd. President Dr. Wilfred Wong led the delegation on the tour, where they visited the Hengqin New Area Exhibition Hall and a brewery for local brewer Macau Beer Co., Ltd.

He said: "As the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin celebrated the first anniversary of the inauguration of its administrative organisations this month, we hope that this visit will enable our team members to gain a greater appreciation of how collaborations in the Greater Bay Area can support Macao's moderate economic diversification. With abundant opportunities presented to Macao in the Greater Bay Area and in the In-Depth Cooperation Zone, we encourage our team members make contributions toward their development. Moving forward, we will continue our efforts in professionalism education, as it remains a key part of Sands China's efforts to help our team members gain insights from the development of Macao and the nation."

Team members went to Zhuhai's Shizimen Central Business District, where they toured the Hengqin New Area Exhibition Hall. Located at the Hengqin Financial Industrial Service Base, the exhibition hall showcases Hengqin's vision, overall planning, past developments and future possibilities.

They also toured the Macau Beer distillery in the Zhuhai Hi-Tech Zone, where Macau Beer Co., Ltd. – a company rooted in the SAR for more than 25 years – is leveraging the advantages of the two Greater Bay Area cities of Macao and Zhuhai, contributing to Macao's diversification.

While in Zhuhai, Dr. Wong and the executive management team met with team members at the company's Hengqin office, where they exchanged ideas with team members and encouraged them to take a proactive role in integrating with the development of the In-Depth Cooperation Zone.

Thursday's visit to Zhuhai is Sands China's fourth professionalism training visit to the mainland since 2018. Visits like these are aimed at enabling team members to strengthen their national pride and inspiring them to contribute to the prosperity and development of the nation and Macao.

Sands China has been committed to bolstering the professionalism of its team members through various initiatives, including GBA visits, professional literacy training courses, professional lectures, various professional exchange activities, and through film viewing sessions. Nearly 30 professionalism activities have been held to date, with a participation of over 10,000.
