Sands China Supports Caritas Macau's Charity Bazaar and Charity Run with MOP 300K Donation

19th consecutive year of company donations

(Macao, Nov. 8, 2022) – Sands China Ltd. recently donated MOP 300,000 to Caritas Macau, in support of two annual Caritas Macau events, the 53rd Charity Bazaar and the 2022 Charity Run. It is Sands China's 19th consecutive year donating to the local NGO; this year's events are raising funds to build a small elderly home.

Sands China has made annual donations to Caritas Macau since 2004. The funds help support Caritas Macau's operational expenses and its efforts to develop and implement social services in the community.

2022 Charity Run
At a ceremony Oct. 30 at Zona De Lazer Da Marginal Da Taipa, Sam Chongnin, vice president of corporate communications and community affairs for Venetian Macau Limited, presented a ceremonial cheque for MOP 100,000 to Caritas Macau Secretary-General Paul Pun Chi Meng in support of Caritas Macau's 2022 Charity Run.

In light of the uncertainty brought by COVID-19, this year's Charity Run was again held as a virtual run, in order to prevent large gatherings of people in a centralised location.

For the virtual run, participants completed their runs at their own chosen locations within a specified period of time and then submitted photos from their runs, such as from running apps or treadmill screens.

Around 40 Sands Cares Ambassadors and family members showed their support by attending the cheque presentation ceremony and participating in the virtual charity run.

53rd Charity Bazaar
Around 120 Sands Cares Ambassadors volunteered at the 53rd Charity Bazaar Nov. 5-6, where they ran a game booth to raise funds for Caritas Macau. All proceeds from the booth will be donated to Caritas Macau, without deducting costs.

Visitors to the booth won prizes like hotel stays and tickets to The Parisian Macao's Eiffel Tower, food and beverage vouchers, gondola ride tickets, and tickets to teamLab SuperNature Macao at The Venetian® Macao.

At the bazaar's opening ceremony on Nov. 5 at Nam Van Nautical Center, Sam additionally presented a MOP 200,000 ceremonial cheque for Caritas Macau to Pun.

Sands China Ltd. President Dr. Wilfred Wong said: "It is always a pleasure to continue our support to Caritas Macau to help them carry out the invaluable services they provide to the Macao community. Our thanks go to Caritas Macau for organising these two meaningful events to bring the community together for a good cause. We are also grateful to Sands Cares Ambassadors and their families for their support and participation again this year."

Pun said: "We are grateful to Sands China for their longstanding support to our charity services. While we met tough challenges in fundraising in the face of the instability brought by COVID-19 this year, Sands Cares Ambassadors have shown their support by participating in the Charity Run. They also rendered their wholehearted support to the Charity Bazaar over the weekend despite the unstable weather, and we also want to thank Sands China's volunteers for their passion and involvement."

The Sands Cares Ambassador programme was established in August 2009 to give Sands China team members an outlet for serving the local community by organising community activities and initiatives that work toward creating a better Macao. With membership of more than 3,300 volunteers from across all Sands China properties – Sands® Macao, The Venetian Macao, The Plaza® Macao, The Parisian Macao and The Londoner® Macao – the Sands Cares Ambassadors have contributed more than 175,000 hours of voluntary community service since the programme's founding.

Sands China's support to charitable organisations like Caritas Macau and the company's Sands Cares Ambassador programme are part of Sands Cares, the global corporate citizenship programme of parent company Las Vegas Sands Corp.
