Sands China Sponsors 2022 Mastering Cotai Academic Seminar at The Londoner Macao
Bridging the research work of academia with the integrated resort industry
(Macao,
Nov. 9, 2022) – Sands China Ltd. sponsored and
hosted this year's Mastering Cotai academic seminar
Wednesday at The Londoner® Macao, drawing
close to 150 online and offline
attendees.
Now in its
fourth year, Mastering Cotai has a mission of bridging
the research work of academia with the tourism,
hospitality and gaming industry in Macao. The annual
seminar is organised by the Faculty of Business
Administration of the University of Macau, whose
master's degree students present discoveries and
insights from their postgraduate research theses and
receive immediate feedback from experts in the industry.
The seminar serves to provide an ideal platform to
present empirical studies and evidence on topics of
importance to the
industry.
Among this
year's industry representatives was Sands China Ltd.
Senior Vice President of Resort Operations Sean
McCreery, who said: "Sands China is very pleased to be
the sponsor of this year's Mastering Cotai event. The
seminar is an invaluable opportunity for long-time
executives on the ground in the industry and rising
students in academia to exchange ideas. As a result, the
industry can gain greater insight into some of the
pertinent issues and challenges of Macao and the Cotai
Strip as a tourism destination, while postgraduate
students can learn about the practical applications of
their studies. Sands China is grateful to participate in
the seminar again this year and our thanks go to the
Faculty of Business Administration for another
constructive
event."
Seven
postgraduate students made presentations Wednesday on
their various research topics, which included consumer
adoption of mobile payment systems in Macao, guests'
hotel reviews in Macao during the pandemic, the
effectiveness of integrated resorts' social media
communication strategies, and the importance of the
back-of-house environments of Macao's integrated
resorts.
Sands China's
sponsorship of Mastering Cotai is part of the company's
ongoing effort to support the Macao SAR government's
policy of Building Macao through Talent Training. In
close collaboration with higher education institutions,
government departments, and other educational
institutions, the company is committed to cultivating
integrated resort management professionals with an
international vision and diverse skill sets, thereby
contributing to the city's moderate economic
diversification.
