Sands China Team Members Tour 'National Security Education Exhibition'

Part of Sands China's professionalism education series

(Macao, Apr. 25, 2023) – A delegation of Sands China's senior executives and department heads went on a guided tour of the 2023 National Security Education Exhibition at the Complex of Commerce and Trade Co-operation Platform for China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Monday, led by Sands China Ltd. President Dr. Wilfred Wong. The tour aimed to deepen team members' understanding of the development of the Chinese mainland and the Macao SAR, thereby reinforcing their national security awareness and literacy.

Dr. Wong said: "National security is a prerequisite for social and economic development. Sands China is therefore very pleased to organise this tour for our team members again this year, as it is part of our ongoing effort to promote professionalism education. We hope this visit to the 2023 National Security Education Exhibition helps equip team members and the younger generation with a holistic view of national security, cultivates in them the spirit of 'Loving the Motherland and Loving Macao,' and deepens their understanding of the importance of national security in the context of Macao and the Chinese mainland."

A total of 50 team members were given a guided tour of the exhibition, which is divided into a prologue and five thematic sections, focusing on the significant improvement in the country's national security system and the modernization of its capabilities under the nation's guidance of the past decade.

The exhibition showcases a series of new achievements in various fields of security and development, as well as the Macao SAR government's continuous improvement in maintaining the national security system and actively integrating into the overall development of the country.

Exhibits display how the central government ensures unity while balancing the high degree of autonomy of the SAR alongside the central government's overall jurisdiction, and highlight how the implementation of the fundamental principle of "patriots governing Macao" in Macao helps ensure social stability and economic development in Macao.

Gabriella Chang, senior vice president of security for Sands China Ltd., joined the visit. She said: "Thank you to the company for organizing this visit. The exhibition, with its vivid graphics and text, has deepened my understanding of the importance of national security and enhanced my sense of responsibility in helping to maintain it. In addition, I am also proud to learn about the latest developments in the fields of social, economic, and technological aspects of our country from the exhibition."

Since the first edition of the National Security Education Exhibition in 2018, Sands China has organised yearly team member visits to the exhibition jointly hosted by the Macao SAR government and the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, in support of the Macao government's efforts to promote public awareness and education regarding national security in the community.
