Sands China Team Members Learn About Macao's Basic Law at Seminar

(Macao, Jun 13, 2023) – Sands China recently hosted a seminar in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the promulgation of the Basic Law of the Macao SAR, with close to 100 of Sands China's management team members attending.
The seminar was held June 2 at The Venetian® Macao's Adelson Advanced Education Centre as part of the Sands China Distinguished Speaker Forum Series. It was delivered by guest speaker Ho Teng Iat, who is vice chairman of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the 13th CPPCC, former standing member of the Macao Basic Law Consultative Committee, and former convener of its Economic Task Force.

During the seminar, Ho shared her experience of participating in the birth of the Basic Law of the Macao SAR. She reviewed the consultation, drafting and promotion process, explained the spirit embodied in the Basic Law, and summarised its great achievements. She pointed out that the Basic Law is a groundbreaking achievement that ensured a smooth and peaceful transition for Macao's return to China and the successful implementation of the One Country, Two Systems principle, and acts as a guiding force for long-term prosperity and stability of Macao.
Sands China team members were keen to learn more about the topic and got a chance to ask their questions during the seminar's Q&A session. One of the team members who joined the seminar said: "I'm very honoured to have heard Ms. Ho talk about the details of how Macao's Basic Law was created. Thanks to this forward-looking law, we've achieved the Macao that we see in front of us today, and I am proud of the contribution we are making to Macao's social and economic development based on the foundation the Basic Law has laid for the city."
