Sands China Recognises Outstanding Team Members with 'Because We Care' Annual Awards

Celebrating 10th anniversary of company's core culture of service

(Macao, Nov 30, 2023) – Sands China paid tribute to some of its most exemplary team members Nov. 22 at the Because We Care Team Member Annual Awards Ceremony 2023 at The Venetian^® Macao. The awards recognise individuals and teams who embody the cultural values of Sands China's Because We Care service philosophy, demonstrating exceptional dedication and excellence.

Sands China inaugurated the awards in 2013 to honour team members who exemplify Sands China's culture of service, which is built upon four core values: We Are Friendly, We Are Professional, We Are Active Listeners, and We Are One Team. By embracing these values, team members strive to fulfil the company's service promise of providing guests, colleagues, partners, and the community with a memorable, attentive, and entertaining experience.

Throughout the years, Sands China has continuously worked to exemplify the values of Because We Care through tangible actions. Team members have shared countless heartwarming moments as they embrace the company spirit of "We Care About You and Beyond."

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Sands China's Because We Care service culture, this year's awards process underwent a transformation in terms of the mechanism and award categories. The company implemented a strengthened recognition system for the culture of service, incorporating a new 'compliment' element that extends from individuals to departments throughout the entire company. This innovation aimed to encourage nominations and foster a culture of recognition and encouragement.

The nomination process for the awards engaged team members from all levels of Sands China's operation. This year, an impressive number of team members were nominated, resulting in a remarkable tally of more than 1,700 individual and team nominations. Following the nominations, all team members were enthusiastically invited to participate in the voting process. The response was truly overwhelming, as over 58,000 votes were cast on the recognition platform. This platform provided team members with the opportunity to review the inspiring stories of the shortlisted nominees, express their preferences through voting, share valuable comments, and endorse individuals and teams based on the Because We Care core values. Subsequently, a committee meticulously selected the top 100 nominees – some as individuals and some as teams, totaling over 770 team members – who advanced to the final stage of the competition for the prestigious awards.

At the ceremony, winners were announced in nine award categories: People's Choice Award, Active Listener Award, Best Team Player Award, Professional Award, Manager of the Year, Outstanding Team Award, and this year's three new categories – New Team Member Award, Fellowship Award, and the prestigious 'Because We Care' Premium Award.

Nearly 600 of the nominees' fellow team members attended the Because We Care Team Member Annual Awards Ceremony, where winners received trophies, cash prizes, or other sought-after rewards valued close to MOP 900,000, in appreciation of their dedication and contributions.
