NBA Legend and WNBA Player Join “Her Time to Play” Basketball Clinic

Deron Williams and Myisha Hines-Allen engage with young local female players
Concluding event of “NBA Cares x Sands Cares Community Impact Week”

(Macao, Oct 12, 2025) – On the final day of The NBA China Games 2025 at The Venetian Arena, NBA Cares and Sands Cares co-hosted the concluding event of the “NBA Cares x Sands Cares Community Impact Week” – the “Her Time to Play” basketball clinic – in the NBA House at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo Hall A. The event welcomed NBA Legend Deron Williams and current WNBA player Myisha Hines-Allen for an inspiring session with over 30 local female student basketball team players, as well as students and coaches from NBA Cares’ “Her Time to Play” initiative, marking a meaningful close to the community impact week.

Participants included girls’ basketball team members from Pui Ching Middle School Macau and Keng Peng School, students and coaches from the “Her Time to Play” initiative, and a group of Sands Cares Ambassadors. Williams and Hines-Allen shared their training tips and experience with the young athletes at the event, encouraging them to pursue their dreams.

Later, the students took part in a basketball clinic led by the two basketball stars and played in an exciting five-on-five friendly skills challenge; a cheerleading team delivered an energetic halftime performance to add to the lively atmosphere. Hines-Allen, Catherine Kong, vice president of corporate communications and community affairs for Sands China Ltd. and Sands Cares Ambassadors also distributed goodie bags prepared during the impact week’s tip-off event to the students as a gesture of care and support.

“The NBA China Games 2025 coming to Macao for the first time has not only ignited a city-wide sports frenzy, but also brought diverse cultures together through basketball,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, executive vice chairman of Sands China Ltd. “The magic of sports is something that can be shared across borders and genders. We brought ‘Her Time to Play’ to the community so that NBA Legend Deron Williams and WNBA player Myisha Hines-Allen could help Macao’s young female athletes hone their basketball skills and inspire them to unleash their athletic and personal potential. This event is a perfect conclusion to the community impact week. Looking ahead, Sands China hopes to continue spreading care into every corner of the community through various sports events, while promoting the spirit of sports in Macao and encouraging young people to pursue their dreams and strive for excellence.”

Running Oct. 8-12, the five-day impact week coincided with The NBA China Games 2025 at The Venetian Arena Oct. 10 and 12. NBA Legends including Mitch Richmond, Tim Hardaway, Yao Ming, Shawn Marion, and Deron Williams, as well as current players from the Phoenix Suns and Brooklyn Nets, took part in impact week’s series of community events, using basketball as a bridge to extend NBA Cares’ spirit of compassion and connection to the Macao community. Events included a basketball exchange at a local school, distributing boxed lunches in the community, and a community basketball carnival.
