Sands China Supports Caritas Macau's Charity Bazaar ad Charity Run with MOP 300K Donation
22 years of compant donations
(Macao, Nov 3, 2025) – Sands China recently gave its hands-on and financial support to two signature Caritas Macau events: the 56th Charity Bazaar and the 2025 Charity Run. This year’s MOP 300,000 donation marks the 22nd consecutive year that Sands China has donated to Caritas Macau to support its operations. As in years past, the Sands Cares Ambassador volunteer team joined both events, in hopes of raising public awareness of community services and spreading warmth in the community.
2025 Charity Run Sands China donated MPP 100,000 to Caritas Macau at a cheque presentation ceremony Sept. 28 at the University of Macau to support the 2025 Charity Run. Sands China’s director of community affairs, Annie Lam, presented the ceremonial cheque to Paul Pun Chi Meng, secretary-general of Caritas Macau.
Sands Cares Ambassadors attended the ceremony and afterward joined the 5K Healthy Run to help promote healthy living, building an inclusive local community, and enhancing family harmony.
56th Charity Bazaar A total of 100 Sands Cares Ambassadors and family members ran a game booth Nov. 1-2 at the bazaar, whose theme this year was “Care and Cherish Each Other. Bring Happiness to All.” Visitors to the booth won a variety of prizes, including hotel accommodation and vouchers for food and beverage. All proceeds from the booth are being donated to Caritas Macau, without deducting costs. Sands China was the first integrated resort operator to join the Charity Bazaar in 2011, making this year the 15th consecutive year of setting up game booths for the public to enjoy.
Sands China’s executive vice president of operations, Sean McCreery, attended the bazaar Nov. 1 to present the company’s MOP 200,000 ceremonial cheque to Caritas Macau, which was accepted by Pun at the bazaar’s opening ceremony at Nam Van Nautical Centre.
In further support of the carnival and participating local social enterprises, Sands China purchased cultural and creative products from the Fuhong Social of Macau and Noah Family Mutual Aid Association, helping promote the development of their service users’ artistic potential.
Dr. Wilfred Wong, executive vice chairman of Sands China Ltd., said: “Macao is Sands China’s home and we are privileged to contribute to our community’s development and care for its vulnerable groups. This is our 22nd year of donating to support Caritas Macau’s community service work, continuing our long-term commitment to giving back to the local community. It is likewise a pleasure for Sands China to participate in Caritas Macau’s Charity Run and Charity Bazaar each year, promoting community inclusion through concrete action. We sincerely thank Caritas Macau for its wide range of services to the Macao community, such as in elderly care and child welfare. Our appreciation also goes to our Sands Cares Ambassadors for supporting this year’s event, once again conveying the power of care with their selfless spirit and working together to bring warmth to the local community.”
Pun said: “We sincerely thank Sands China for its continued donations in support of Caritas Macau’s charitable services over the past 22 years, and for its strong backing of the Charity Bazaar. Sands China has demonstrated full commitment to philanthropy, actively mobilising Sands Cares Ambassadors to help operate game booths and encouraging the public to take part in this meaningful cause. Their long-standing engagement with the community, along with their passion and dedication to social welfare, have been a vital force in ensuring the smooth running of the event. All proceeds raised from this year’s Charity Bazaar will be fully allocated to launching and enhancing our non-subsidised social services, with the aim of providing more appropriate support to vulnerable groups, the elderly, and families in need. We firmly believe that with the joint efforts of Sands China and all sectors of society, we can more effectively spread the spirit of care and mutual support, and together build a warmer, more inclusive community in Macao. On behalf of Caritas Macau, I would like to once again express our heartfelt thanks to Sands China and all participants for their sincere contributions – bringing love together and igniting hope.”
Sands China began its annual donations to Caritas Macau in 2004. The funds go to supporting the operational expenses of Caritas Macau and the social services it provides the community. Sands China maintains close relationships with local charitable organisations like Caritas Macau and offers ongoing, practical assistance. This includes donating 3,000 food hampers this year to Caritas Macau’s service users to help ease the burden on underprivileged groups, and proactively providing safe parking spaces for its rehabilitation bus ahead of typhoons to ensure uninterrupted support services – demonstrating a steadfast commitment to community care through all situations.
Sands China’s community work is part of the Sands Cares corporate citizenship programme.
