Sands Cares Ambassadors Give Deaf Community Members Guided Tour of teamLab SuperNature Macao
Giving back to local community and promoting social inclusion
(Macao, Apr. 26, 2021) – A group of 20 Sands
Cares Ambassadors hosted 30 deaf Catholics based at St.
Joseph the Worker Church for a guided tour of the
immersive art space of teamLab SuperNature Macao April
18 at The Venetian® Macao, as part of Sands
China's efforts to give back to the local community and
to promote social
inclusion.
The day
before, the Sands volunteers attended a special sign
language workshop at St. Joseph the Worker Church to get
prepared for hosting their guests. Through tutorials and
roleplays they learned some fundamentals of sign
language that would be helpful during the teamLab tour
and for future voluntary services for the deaf
community.
During the
guided tour, the Ambassadors and their guests divided
into smaller groups, allowing them to enjoy the 19
interactive art installations at their own pace. Sign
language interpretation service was also available at
the tour to make the enjoyment of the art an inclusive
experience.
A member of
the deaf community who participated in the tour said: "I
would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Sands
Cares Ambassadors for their thoughtful arrangements.
This tour was truly a caring, inclusive and eye-opening
experience for our
group."
Dr. Wilfred
Wong, president of Sands China Ltd., said: "Sands China
is very pleased that our Sands Cares Ambassadors were
able to host deaf members of St. Joseph the Worker
Church to explore the interactive art installations at
teamLab at The Venetian Macao. Corporate social
responsibility is part of our company's core values and
we are grateful for the collaboration of St. Joseph the
Worker Church for this opportunity to give back to the
local community and for our team members to be of
service."
The Sands
Cares Ambassador programme was established in August
2009 to give Sands China team members an outlet for
serving the local community by organising community
activities and initiatives that work toward creating a
better Macao. With membership of more than 3,300
volunteers from across all Sands China properties –
Sands® Macao, The Venetian Macao, The
Plaza® Macao, The Parisian Macao and The
Londoner® Macao – the Sands Cares Ambassadors
have contributed more than 130,000 hours of voluntary
community service since the programme's founding.
Sands China

teamLab as central to its commitment toward social
causes and community involvement. The company’s
