Sands China Hosts Community Events to Support Macau Grand Prix
Promoting the integration of sports tourism to showcase the unique vibrancy of Macao
(Macao, Nov 16, 2025) – As Macao’s annual international sports extravaganza, the 72nd Macau Grand Prix, roared into town Thursday through Sunday, major sponsor Sands China engaged the community with special events and brought its popular Grand Prix interactive pop-up booth back to The Venetian® Macao, sharing the thrill of the global sporting event with residents and tourists alike.
The Grand Prix Fun Zone returned to the area outside The Venetian Theatre Nov. 8-16 with a series of free parent-child interactive activities themed on motorsports, aimed at promoting the races to all ages. Visitors to the pop-up booth took the wheel at race simulators, raced remote control cars on a Guia Circuit track, and designed and painted their own model race cars at a creative workshop. The Grand Prix Fun Zone also gave visitors a place to gather to watch big-screen live feeds of the races. The zone drew more than 3,000 visits, with visitors diving into the exciting atmosphere of the races through interactive experiences.
During the races, Sands China and the Noah Family Mutual Aid Association ran a charity sales booth, providing a platform for residents and visitors to purchase the cultural and creative motorsports themed products designed by their members. Established in 2014, the association is committed to assisting local young people and those in need in developing their own values through psychological counselling and community care services. The charity sale aimed to help build self-confidence among the members and facilitate their integration into society, while enabling them to feel the magnetism of this international sports event.
In order to let more local community members join this spectacular city-wide event, Sands Cares Ambassadors hosted underprivileged families from Macau IN Volunteer Group to experience the excitement of the races from the grandstand Saturday. The outreach event was carried out under the company’s Sands Cares corporate citizenship program to promote the building of a harmonious and inclusive community.
Dr. Wilfred Wong, executive vice chairman of Sands China Ltd., said: “We are honoured to be one of the major sponsors of the 72nd Macau Grand Prix. Our support of the event is aimed at propelling the diversified development of Macao’s integrated tourism and leisure industry and advancing the integration of ‘tourism + sports,’ in line with the government’s policy. To further support and promote this annual sports extravaganza, we presented game booths along with activities that fostered family interaction at The Venetian Macao. We also held a series of community events to let residents and visitors gain knowledge and learn about the culture of motorsport, enriching their cultural and leisure experiences and making this November a fruitful one with mega events. We will continue to leverage our resources to bring the underprivileged and our local community partners to join us in these spectacular events, contributing to Macao’s endeavors as a ‘City of Events’ and a world centre of tourism and leisure.”
Over the past two decades, Sands China has actively introduced a series of events encompassing culture, tourism, and sports. Since 2007, the company has sponsored, hosted, or organised multiple large-scale sporting events, such as The NBA China Games, demonstrating the company’s commitment to promote the development of sports and the integration of sports tourism. Sands China often utilises the opportunities presented by these competitions and exhibition games to host auxiliary events like youth clinics and community-focused events to engage further with the community and maximise the events’ positive impact on the city.
