Sands China Team Members Visit National Security Education Exhibition for Second Straight Year

One of the company’s initiatives to support national education

(Macao, April 18, 2019) –
Nearly 40 Sands China team members, including senior management from various departments, visited the second National Security Education Exhibition at the Handover Gifts Museum of Macao Thursday, to deepen their understanding of the importance of national security in the context of Macao and mainland China.

While there, they went on a guided tour in order to gain a deeper understanding of the exhibition, which focuses on four key themes: “the road to national rejuvenation,” “staying alert to the challenges ahead,” “safety and development,” and “our responsibilities.” This year’s exhibition included a new interactive gaming area, which helped further strengthen team members’ awareness of national security.

Thursday’s team member engagement activity supports the Macao SAR government’s efforts to promote public awareness and education regarding national security in the community and is one of Sands China’s initiatives to support national education. The visit also helped team members reinforce their understanding of “one country, two systems,” the central government’s Constitution, and Macao’s Basic Law.

“Sands China was very pleased to organise this opportunity for our team members to visit this insightful exhibition, which helps raise the Macao community’s awareness and understanding of the importance of national security,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. “With Macao continuing to play a key role in the region’s rapid development, I encourage team members and the wider Macao community to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the role we can play in contributing to the security of the nation.”

In April of last year, Sands China organised a team member visit to the first National Security Education Exhibition as well, which had also been held at the Handover Gifts Museum of Macao.

Jointly hosted by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, the National Security Education Exhibition seeks to promote understanding of the principles and achievements relating to the overall national security outlook of China, the relationship between national security and the Macao public, and Macao’s effort in protecting national security in line with the Constitution and the Basic Law.
