Sands China and SKH Hold Financial Management Workshop
Team members increase their knowledge of financial planning and responsible gaming
(Macao,
July
8, 2019) –
A group of 50 Sands
China team members, including some of the
company’s Responsible Gaming Ambassadors,
learned about financial planning June 26 at
a workshop at The Venetian®
Macao’s Adelson Advanced Education Centre.
Co-organised by Sands China Ltd. and the
Sheng Kung Hui Social Services Coordination
Office, the Responsible Gaming
Workshop – Financial Ability 2.0:
Financial Management was led by
Hong Kong Certified Financial Planner May
Wong and two Certified Financial Social Work
Counsellors from Sheng Kung Hui.
During the workshop, team members learned
about the concepts of financial management,
including personal financial risk
assessment, savings, and investment, and
discussed responsible gaming in the context
of the financial risks associated with
gambling. They learned to recognise credit
card payment types and interest rates, and
were introduced to some of the financial
management service resources available to
them.
Winnie Wong, chief responsible gaming
officer and vice president of special
gaming projects for Venetian Macau
Limited, said: “Strengthening our team
members’ financial management skills can
have a significant impact on their
overall well-being and quality of life.
We were very pleased work with Sheng
Kung Hui to offer this workshop to our
team members, and we hope it has
enhanced their understanding of
financial management and the role that
responsible gaming can play in living a
lifestyle that is fiscally responsible.
This knowledge will be invaluable for
our Responsible Gaming Ambassadors as
they continue to be of service to guests
and visitors at our properties.”
Besides Wednesday’s workshop, Sands
China also recently sponsored Sheng Kung
Hui to organise another responsible
gaming workshop on financial management
for students from local universities on
May 30.
The participants were highly engaged in
the workshop, and expressed satisfaction
with the facilitator, venue and the
content of the workshop. Many of them
mentioned how learning more about the
topic was of great benefit to their
programmes of study, which included
social work, marketing and others, and
helped them gain professional knowledge
of the financial aspects of their future
career fields.
Sands China remains committed to the
well-being of its guests and recognises
the importance of responsible gaming to
the Macao community. Sands China was the
first gaming operator in Macao to launch
a self-exclusion programme in 2004, and
was a pioneer in including responsible
gaming training in its company-wide team
member orientation programme. Sands
China established its comprehensive
responsible gaming programme in 2007,
with the goals of contributing to the
continuous development of the Macao
community, bearing corporate
responsibility in addressing social
issues and developing an environment and
a culture of responsible gaming in
Macao.
