Sands Cares Ambassadors Visit Elderly at Ka Ho Centre

(Macao, October 4, 2019) – A group of around 30 Sands Cares Ambassadors visited 70 elderly members of the Ka Ho elderly centre in Coloane Sept. 13, offering them service and good cheer.

After a meet and greet in the centre’s lobby, the Sands volunteers led the participants in some light exercise, followed by some songs led by Sands China’s entertainment team, including the popular Chinese song, “The Moon Represents My Heart.”

Then the Sands Cares Ambassadors did finger exercises with the elderly, played games with them, and distributed gift packs. The visit concluded with a group photo and a tour of the centre.

“With the Sands Cares Ambassadors celebrating the 10th anniversary of the programme this year, they remain exemplary frontline ambassadors of the company’s emphasis on community service and corporate social responsibility,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. “Activities like their visit to the Ka Ho elderly centre demonstrate their care for the community and their selfless spirit of volunteerism. The company is grateful for their service and looks forward to many more years of their contributions to come.”

The Ka Ho elderly centre reopened its doors in 2018 after undergoing renovation work. It provides comprehensive care for local elderly people who require a high level of care to help them live a healthy and happy life.

The Sands Cares Ambassador programme was established in August 2009 to give Sands China team members an outlet for serving the local community by organising community activities and initiatives that work toward creating a better Macao. With membership of more than 3,300 volunteers from across all Sands China properties – Sands^® Macao, The Venetian^® Macao, The Plaza^® Macao, Sands^® Cotai Central and The Parisian Macao – the Sands Cares Ambassadors have contributed 100,000 hours of voluntary community service since the programme’s founding.

The Sands Cares Ambassador programme is part of Sands Cares, the global corporate citizenship programme of parent company Las Vegas Sands Corp.
